Staple has always been best known for what we represent rather than what we manufacture. This Fall is no different. Working with our good friend (and recent PDN 30 under 30 photographer) Tony Law, Staple took to the streets of NY to find its models for Fall 2001. Why you ask? One of the most frustrating things to us about the fashion industry is the incredible amount of waste involved. It usually takes 3-5 samples before getting 1 piece of clothing totally perfect. And those samples are usually unsellable just because of some small thing. Multiply that over some 50 styles and you're talking a lot of gear. So Staple has chosen to donate their samples to local charities and institutions that work with homeless individuals. In our Fall ad campaign, we interviewed 15 people from the streets and let them tell their stories. The results are moving...the stories are real...don't just read them...listen to them.

We wanted to show these individuals as simply that. Individuals. People with real lives and real reasons for being in the predicament they are in. And the bottom line is, these people just want someone to talk to.
