I think everyone had a "Darrin Hudson" in their lives. Darrin Hudson was in my high school, back in Marlboro, NJ. You know, that person that you had to one-up all the time. Didn't matter what it was: Gear, hair, grades, sports, whatever...it was ON. Well for Darrin and I...it was kicks. Plain and simple. Oddly enough, in a school with over 1000 kids, me and him were the only 2 really into sneakers back then. This is my blog dedicated to Darrin. This is to tell Darrin that I'm still out there, and if he wants to battle, here it is son!! Bring it!! I've since lost touch with Darrin, but thanks to him, you all get to check out the kicks I have amassed over the years. So it is here, that I will archive every pair of shoes I own. It’ll include detailed photos, a grading system, a little tidbit behind each one and every single one will be available for purchase. (Simply POST A COMMENT with your offer). Some other little goodies sprinkled throughout also. Even if I updated a different shoe every week, it would take me about 3 years to complete this project. So sit back and enjoy! The project begins January 1st, 2006...

KNOWLEDGE REIGNS.

I dropped by my friend James' office today for a chat before I take off to Japan tomorrow. James owns and operates a little brand by the name of Supreme y'all might have heard of. He also runs the NYC Chapter of Stussy and started one of the most influential streetwear stores in the world called Union. If it wasn't for Union, there probably would be no Staple to speak of. Union placed the 2nd order EVER from us.
James will never tell it to you, but in my mind, he's one of the people responsible for what streetwear and sneaker culture is today. All praise due, kids. It's no coincidence he's sitting in front of James Brown...The Godfather.
And to top it off, he was right. History of Violence did suck.

Today was one of the most busy and stressful days of my life. It's ALWAYS like this before and after vacation. It's like, what's the point of even going on a vacation? Anyway, I leave for Japan tomorrow for mostly pleasure and a little business will probably get mixed in as well. In case you haven't heard, they are getting bombarded with the most snow since WWII! I can't wait to hit the slopes out there. I'll keep y'all posted. But if I don't post a new entry for a while, someone please come and thaw me out in the Spring.

Stop hatin' on History of Violence. It did not suck. Narnia sucked. Syriana was boring. I'd watch History of Violence again. I can think of a lot worse.

The first EVER order for Staple was by a man named Deflon who managed a very cool boutique in the LES of Manhattan called Triple Five Soul. But don't get confused. 555 was a very different animal back in the 90s. It's changed now (for better or worse) but definitely have to give Triple Five props for the support it gave Staple since Day One. (Props to Camella also.)

Hey Jeff, went by Reed Space the other day and was met by a real cool dude working there. Soft spoken but real knowledgeable. Scooped up an SB handkerchief too cuz...who couldnt use that? Curious about an old Staple Design t-shirt I've been trying to get my hands on though...gray XXL with the Sidekick on it "Not Hip-Hop" ahha just a shot in the dark but I cant find it anywhere. Cheers to you man, keep doing it big.

Awesome Jeff, thanks. Mission Accomplished last night. Also, have you ever heard of this store called "AS" i think it was. On 11 Stanton St? I havent ever heard of it but passed by it on my walk back to work after dropping in on Reed Space. A true hole in the wall, ridiculous prices on their shit, but some good finds as well. They had all the BTTYS's, Brown Highs, Delta force ltd's, Year of The Dog AF1's, and these GR dunks I hadnt ever seen before. Just curious, Im still looking into it...Im loving the boutique scene but prices this high shouldnt be allowed.

Yeah we know AS. cool shop but mad $$$$$ for sure. They;re a consignment shop which means they don't get things for wholesale. They go retail to retail which is why shit is mad duckets.
