I think everyone had a "Darrin Hudson" in their lives. Darrin Hudson was in my high school, back in Marlboro, NJ. You know, that person that you had to one-up all the time. Didn't matter what it was: Gear, hair, grades, sports, whatever...it was ON. Well for Darrin and I...it was kicks. Plain and simple. Oddly enough, in a school with over 1000 kids, me and him were the only 2 really into sneakers back then. This is my blog dedicated to Darrin. This is to tell Darrin that I'm still out there, and if he wants to battle, here it is son!! Bring it!! I've since lost touch with Darrin, but thanks to him, you all get to check out the kicks I have amassed over the years. So it is here, that I will archive every pair of shoes I own. It’ll include detailed photos, a grading system, a little tidbit behind each one and every single one will be available for purchase. (Simply POST A COMMENT with your offer). Some other little goodies sprinkled throughout also. Even if I updated a different shoe every week, it would take me about 3 years to complete this project. So sit back and enjoy! The project begins January 1st, 2006...

JPN FINDS.

Japan is always a treasure of new finds, especially in fashion. Here's some incredible stuff I stumbled upon... Or stumbled upon me.

Levi's FLU, headed by Ewan Reynolds from Playford and Okazawa from CLS continues to innovate and break the mold of what a denim label is "supposed" to do. Still only available in Japan, this athletic inspired collection is hands down one of my favorites.

If you haven't heard of SOPH of FCRB...well continue sleeping. It's another one of my favorites and with the recent addition of Uniform Experiment, you wonder how Kiyonaga-san has any time to sleep. Much less watch a football match. Nike asked him to help them with the upcoming relaunch of their storied ACG Collection. Kiyonaga basically looked back on the archives and redid some styles...adding special touches like leather reinforcements, tech pockets, Riri zippers, and luscious fabrics. Sorry, not available in your local Niketown. Try Sendagaya.

Finally, the biggest surprise find I discovered in Osaka was HIDEHIKO YAMANE. Yamane-san is the founder of a little known denim brand named EVISU. I guess he got tired of hood rats rocking Evisu denim with multi-colored embroideries going all the way down both legs. This private collection he is doing is exquisite. Classic cuts with subtle hints towards his denim heritage. Its still available in Evisu shops in Japan but in very small quantities. Again, only available by passing thru Narita first.

hood rats describes a certain race of people... we understand what you saying without the hood rat added. I think the hood rat peeps made it hot. evisu starting to sound like a certain clothing and beverage.
no hard feelings just expressing myself. everyone trips after the hip-hop explosion.
