I think everyone had a "Darrin Hudson" in their lives. Darrin Hudson was in my high school, back in Marlboro, NJ. You know, that person that you had to one-up all the time. Didn't matter what it was: Gear, hair, grades, sports, whatever...it was ON. Well for Darrin and I...it was kicks. Plain and simple. Oddly enough, in a school with over 1000 kids, me and him were the only 2 really into sneakers back then. This is my blog dedicated to Darrin. This is to tell Darrin that I'm still out there, and if he wants to battle, here it is son!! Bring it!! I've since lost touch with Darrin, but thanks to him, you all get to check out the kicks I have amassed over the years. So it is here, that I will archive every pair of shoes I own. It’ll include detailed photos, a grading system, a little tidbit behind each one and every single one will be available for purchase. (Simply POST A COMMENT with your offer). Some other little goodies sprinkled throughout also. Even if I updated a different shoe every week, it would take me about 3 years to complete this project. So sit back and enjoy! The project begins January 1st, 2006...

COLABS ARE DEAD?

Lots of people I talk to say colabs are dead. I think they just need to be redefined...and brought to the next level. But the basic concept of mixing different talents from different fields is still a positive one. Luckily, I get to see first hand some of the more interesting ones.

Celux x Burton AK Jacket. Since this is a members only club, I don't want to spoil it for them. But the jacket is sick without a doubt.

mhixwahl.jpg
MHI x Wahl. This is definitely something different. But so good. One could say that hair clippers is just as much a part of street and hip-hop culture as turntables or the spray can. One of the masters of streetwear, MHI teams up with Wahl, the most popular clipper company in the world. The set even comes with your own barber apron. Thanks D!

Zune recently launched their revamped MP3 player by hosting an artist series collection. They had a private event a few weeks ago and allowed the guests to choose which artist to have engraved on whichever color Zune they wanted. (I went with Kenzo Minami.) The unit is definitely much better now. Form factor is greatly improved. Now if someone could hack it to work on a mac, i could actually play around with it.

This just in! Rob from WD recently showed me his new creation with Nike SB. He designed this on behalf of Concepts in Mass. I'm feelin the lobster concept reppin New England...check out the rubber bands around the toe box that relate back to the ones that typically go around lobster claws. Not sure about the release info on these, but I hope I can find a claw or tail in my mailbox soon. (hint hint...)

I am not sure if the "colab" is dead but I wish that all of the dual branding would stop. A couple of years back, it was interesting to see the niche streetwear company working with the seeming large and well established company. Not so much these days, honestly I believe the works speak for themselves. "I know Ralph Lauren didn't design this shirt"

Undoubtedly, creative power is greatly amplified as multiple parties work together. All parties, want and should be recognized for their work but I am not sure if this is the best way to do it.

AH HA HA HA HA, Collabs are not dead! The whole whatever X whatever may come to an end BUT! McDonalds will always "collab" w/ Disney (or whoever) on happy meal toys.

You might be like, it's not the same, a collab is not what McDonalds does. Well, in Hong Kong, they had a McDonalds x Eric So (vinyl toys) happy meal

and BOOYAH!

MHI x Wahl. This is definitely something different. How is this different? Its a regular looking and acting Wahl buzzer with and MHI logo slapped on it. Wahl always had a kit that comes with an apron, for the past 10 years. This is as unoriginal as it is uninventive. Collabs arent dead, there just doing some dumb shit .
