To Darrin Hudson

The Complete Works of jeffstaple.

I think everyone had a "Darrin Hudson" in their lives. Darrin Hudson was in my high school, back in Marlboro, NJ. You know, that person that you had to one-up all the time. Didn't matter what it was: Gear, hair, grades, sports, whatever...it was ON. Well for Darrin and I...it was kicks. Plain and simple. Oddly enough, in a school with over 1000 kids, me and him were the only 2 really into sneakers back then. This is my blog dedicated to Darrin. This is to tell Darrin that I'm still out there, and if he wants to battle, here it is son!! Bring it!! I've since lost touch with Darrin, but thanks to him, you all get to check out the kicks I have amassed over the years. So it is here, that I will archive every pair of shoes I own. It’ll include detailed photos, a grading system, a little tidbit behind each one and every single one will be available for purchase. (Simply POST A COMMENT with your offer). Some other little goodies sprinkled throughout also. Even if I updated a different shoe every week, it would take me about 3 years to complete this project. So sit back and enjoy! The project begins January 1st, 2006...

MY PEOPLES.

antennama.jpg
Congrats to Kevin Ma, the Founder of Hypebeast for being the coverstar of the recent issue of Antenna Magazine. It's amazing to see how far this culture has gone. It's one thing that an entire magazine from Harris Publications is dedicated to streetwear. It's one thing to put a legendary artist or designer on the cover. But to put the founder of a blog on the cover? That's kinda major. Streetwear has gone beyond the players. Even the people who cover the players are players now.
Antenna Magazine

Also congrats to my friend, John Lee who is the founder of Theme Magazine. He is featured in the new Blackberry adverts. Again...a great example of our culture finally getting the shine we long deserve. Little do people know though, that John only knows how to use a beeper.

And in case you're not completely tired of reading interviews with me, SlamXHype just dropped "The Remix" to my Q+A with The Hundreds. It's kind of like the follow up...Promise...there's no repeat questions.
そして、僕のインタビューをまだ読み飽きていない方にはSlamXHypeから僕とThe HundredsとのQ&Aを「リミックス」したものが出ます。前回のフォーローアップのような。。。約束します。。。質問はかぶっていません。

Mr. Ng,

First off I would like to congratulate you on your success to date and the success sure to follow. I am repeatedly inspired by the work of your studio and have the utmost respect for what you have done as a designer. Though you have huge shoes to fill your work gives me a goal to strive for. As a third year University student, currently studying at the University of Manitoba, I really respect your approach not only to design but your goal oriented mindset and positive thinking that I feel is harder to come by in the industry today.

I understand that you’re extremely busy with the work travel combination but I was hoping to get in contact with you regarding the opportunity to possibly pick your brain in person this summer. Though I am sure you get hundreds of request like this I would ask that you would consider. My resume should be on file at Staple with Ana.

I too am a strong believer that meeting “a cool person is…one of the strongest sources of inspiration” – Jeff Staple

I have some work posted on

Thanks for the opportunity it is greatly appreciated,

Chris

THAT IS FUNNY. John Lee on an ad for Verizon. I think it's great. It's like when I saw that American Express commercial with those Pinkberry couple. Also, I like that John's wearing that Haze print shirt and those Clae sneaker that he's always talking about. Where's the ad from? You know, Jeff, you can call me Jimmy, Jeff, you should respond to your blog comments. Seriously. Yeah, seriously.
