I think everyone had a "Darrin Hudson" in their lives. Darrin Hudson was in my high school, back in Marlboro, NJ. You know, that person that you had to one-up all the time. Didn't matter what it was: Gear, hair, grades, sports, whatever...it was ON. Well for Darrin and I...it was kicks. Plain and simple. Oddly enough, in a school with over 1000 kids, me and him were the only 2 really into sneakers back then. This is my blog dedicated to Darrin. This is to tell Darrin that I'm still out there, and if he wants to battle, here it is son!! Bring it!! I've since lost touch with Darrin, but thanks to him, you all get to check out the kicks I have amassed over the years. So it is here, that I will archive every pair of shoes I own. It’ll include detailed photos, a grading system, a little tidbit behind each one and every single one will be available for purchase. (Simply POST A COMMENT with your offer). Some other little goodies sprinkled throughout also. Even if I updated a different shoe every week, it would take me about 3 years to complete this project. So sit back and enjoy! The project begins January 1st, 2006...

NOBLE OR STUPID?

brainrtrain.jpg

Ryuta Kawashima, the scientist behind the smash-hit "Brain Training" games on Nintendo DS portable consoles, turned down the chance to become a millionaire, saying he'd rather work for a living. "Not a single yen has gone in my pocket."
Royalties from the brain training software for the Nintendo DS alone have reached 2.4 billion yen (22 million dollars), with 17 million titles sold worldwide since its debut in Japan in May 2005.
Noble or Stupid? You decide...

I say stupid, because with the Royalty money, he could donate to causes that HE would want to support, not be at the mercy of Nintendo, or any other corporate channel. Even if he has no intention of pocketing the money, it could be used as a tool to do so much more further good in his name!

Noble...all the money is going right back into research. He makes a good point here as well, "People fall to lower and lower places unless they are driven to go higher."

In Japan, the "ape in lukewarm water" is a major concern for their future. The youth has lived on the incredible wealth generated from the older generation. In 20 years, Japan's population is gonna decrease in size.

Kawashima is worried that the next generation will only be qualified to work at a conbini, play game soft, and shop for hipster clothing they read about in slick mags like Antenna.

I did think about this last week and I thought maybe it's too easy to make a conclusion based on what reporting was done on this. I want to know more about this whole incident before saying, "oh, what a dumbass" cause this guy DID come up w/ this game and I'm sure he knows he can STILL WORK w/ loads of money in his bank account.

Or... take the news at face value and maybe he's just SOOOO... enlightened that it's beyond my comprehension.

or he's dumb, but COME ON... I don't think so.

Even though money is the end all be all to the masses, there are some individuals that can see past that.

To consider him stupid is an insult. so he prefers to be cog in Cogswell Cogs (Jetsoooon!) it is people like him that there will be a cure for cancer and not a Nintendo DS X (insert fake ass brand here) collabo.

Man, you need more people like in this world. Like the commenter above (Jimmy!) stated, he just migh be more enlightened than average people who conceive wealth as the ultimate goal and be all. Maybe, he's a buddhist who seeks to empty his cup for another type of fullfilment. Something to sidestep, what will Jesus do?

Noble all the way! And yeah, charlie surfs, funny comment - people like him will find cure cancer, AIDS, etc...if there such a cure, and they want that "big doe rehab" $$$ - charge you or your family - millions and plus - then what you going to say about that?
