Staple Design What do you do for fun out here man? I mean... W Getting high, you know just drinking with our friends, we drink
sometimes you know and I'm by myself a lot. Sometimes you know, I have a
beer. Staple Design What's your favorite food? W Probably steak. I know there's a lot of delicacies, but I have
hepatitis and all and ah I'm sure a steak won't...[unclear] Staple Design What do you think about NY? W It's a nice place, you know? Staple Design What do you think about the Mayor? W I don't really know much about Mayor Giuliani, you know? I really
don't. I'm not Italian. People look at me like, you don't have to be Italian
to know about Mayor Giuliani, which I ain't know. But I mean it is a pretty
safe city since he's...it's pretty safe you know? Staple Design Where did you go to high school? W I went to high school in Long Island, you know? Manhattan's safe, I
can't...I'm thinking it's five boroughs. I went to school in Long Island... Staple Design So you're not working right now are you? W No, I have hepatitis. Staple Design Where did you work before? W I had jobs, I was a cab driver, I was a messenger, you know, um...I moved
furniture out in the country for a couple of months. You know and that was
it. You know, I don't see what the point is because they don't ah...The
English have their ways too. That's why I feel that I really have no say in
that because um I speak English. I'm Irish, you know, and I speak the
American language, I guess it stems from England. It just doesn't make any
sense to me. Then again, a lot of stuff doesn't make any sense to me. Staple Design You have any kids? W No, I thought I did but...no. I don't have any kids. Staple Design If you could be anywhere in the world, where would you be? W I'd like to be with my mother, you know. My mother feels that ah...she's
set in her ways. It doesn't make...I don't know, we haven't lived together in
like 14 years, it seems like yesterday. Not too long ago. That's a long time
ago, almost 15 years. My father was dying, well I don't know if he was dying
then, well he was paralyzed from a stroke and he had ah...he was really...I
don't know, he must have been in some sort of pain. He had bedsores, you
know but um...I lie down too. If I lie down too long, I can't explain it, I'm
not a doctor, but I feel sore. Get stiff and everything, you get achy and
ah...sleeping on the ground, as far as I know, it gives your back support. If
you're tired you can sleep on cement with clothes on, you know? It's not
really comfortable, but if you're tired, you'll sleep anyway, you know? Staple Design What's your definition of the word home? W Ah..where you feel your heart is, you know? I don't know. I lived in
residences over the years, and um I didn't really feel...I felt it was my
room, and Brooklyn was like my home, you know? I had my own room. I had my
stereo in there, I had my TV set. Some guys were friendlier, some were just
there to...you know, be my friend. So I went along with their ways, you know,
and ah...sometimes I just feel out of place, and I don't think he would've
cared at all. When you don't have a mate or a girlfriend at 42 years old,
it's...it's hard, you know. I don't know, I can't get too into this because I
feel funny talking about it, you know?
